While this is not the most spectacular of all wolf photos, I wanted to share it with you because I really liked how the sun lit the scene, and how it makes the eyes of the wolf glow in a bright yellow.
Taken at Tierpark Sababurg, and this wolf is a Eurasian wolf (
Canis lupus lupus).
And the usual bit of explaining, even if there is not much to talk about:
Wolves like to stand on top of things. Be it stumps, logs - or in case of a friend in Minnesota who owns a wolf rescue ranch - his wolves even liked to climb up on the roof of his house if they were allowed out of the enclosures (there is a high perimeter fence around the whole property, so there's no problem with that
). They like to get a better view on things, and they also like to play king of the castle, defending their elevated spot.
