Description
A tundra wolf (Canis lupus albus) at Wildpark Alte Fasanerie in Klein-Auheim, Hanau, Germany.
I believe this is Ayla, the only female in the pack of three, but I cannot be sure. You might be surprised to read that this is not a Canadian arctic wolf (Canis lupus arctos), but a tundra wolf, which is a subspecies from northern Asia.
It was wonderful to take photos of these white beauties in the deep snow. I visited them on my way back from our company's christmas party, and luckily the day before it was snowing heavily.
