Leader of the Pack

Description

Full view, please.

Wolves often walk in single file, especially in deep snow, mainly to conserve energy.

With oncoming breeding season, wolves have a higher tendency to do this - usually all the males of a pack are then following the alpha female, because she starts to smell interesting. It then kinda looks like she has a couple of pulltoys following her.

These are 9 out of 13 european wolves at Tierpark Sababurg, Germany.

Let the pack lead you towards 2011 - happy new year everyone!

(I'll open this up for critiques as this is quite different from most of my other photography in composition and I'm curious how the photo appears to you.)

The overall image is a beautiful photo--when you first look at it.

I like the focus of the image, but there is one bad spot. The wolf that is facing the other's cheek should be in focus more. The rest of the wolf part is lovely.

The main wolf is absolutely amazing. The holes in the snow around it gives it even more of a pop. The wolf's eyes have a huge impact. It seems so..devil-like, like a stare look.
The wolf right behind it is too..close? It almost looks like that particular wolf (the leader) is elongated. Besides the small hints of the wolf's ear behind it, it looks like the wolf has 8 legs! But I didn't really notice this until I actually took time to stare down at the photo.

In my opinion, the snow is a bit too white. It almost looks like a completely white canvas, besides the small depths of shdaing behind the leader. Otherwise, the s now could be a tad darker. Only a tad, not a lot at all. It's actually quite fine the way it is now, but that is another note.

I'm not a huge fan of logos or frames, either, but that is an opinion. I just think that the image would pop more without it, that's all.

That's basically the vision. Originality is..pretty good..I'd say. But it is quite common of photos like this. Your technique is pretty good too, besides some mistakes. But hey, we all have them. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)"/>
