Season's End by Lupinicious Season's End by Lupinicious
Here's another one I had sitting around on my harddisk for three weeks now.
The title is "Season's End" because as you can see, the wolves are (were) starting to shed their winter fur.

Although I thought the photo was kinda nice I didn't upload it right away since I thought the saturation of its colors was a little over the top and it looks a bit like a studio shot :D
In fact, given the right light, the 400mm f/2.8 produces really strong colors. I tried desaturating it some but it didn't look quite right and I think it deserves the full vibrance / dynamics.

It was a beautiful evening sun. Since then, we only had a lot of overcast skies and rain :-(
This weekend was particularly nasty so far. Thus, I am now submitting the leftovers *g*
Today's nice and sunny though!

Did you make the eyes that bright? They look too good to be real!

Wow, how do you edit the RAW files to retain so much details in highlights? My camera would have overexposed the grass at least 2x ;) Supposedly, we don't see the difference between 16 and 8 bit files, but yours are so vivid and have so broad tonal range... peachy! :)

Thanks :-) Well, I had the chance to test the Canon 7D a bit a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised how bad the photos came out. Part of it was certainly due to the very different handling of the cam, but I think there is still a remarkable technological gap between the "small" pro lineup and the flagships of Canon's cameras, especially keeping in mind that the technology of the cam I use is over 5 years old now. I think a lot has to do with the lenses too - and still, I would call the grass overexposed already :-) That's one of many reasons why I originally didn't want to upload this photo. And it's funny to see that the dA crowd agrees that it's not a strong photo judging by the favs *g*
